Terry Salman
Terry Salman founded Salman Partners Inc. in 1994 and is its Chairman, President and CEO.
Terry spent 21 years with Nesbitt Thomson, first as a research analyst and ultimately as Executive Vice-President and Director. During his term, he built the company's first investment banking operations in Alberta and BC, and was responsible for the firm's corporate and government finance activities in BC, the western US and the Pacific Rim. Terry left the firm in the early nineties when he established Salman Partners.
Over the years, Terry has been a director of a number of public and private companies, and has volunteered his services for many nonprofit organizations. Terry served on the board of the Stem Cell Network Board where he acted as Chairman of the Audit Committee from 2003 to 2005. He was also Chairman of St. Paul's Hospital Foundation of Vancouver for eight years, a trustee of St. Paul's Hospital, a member of the Financial Advisory Board on the XI Conference on AIDS, and served on the Board of Directors of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada for six years. In addition, Terry has been Director of the International Financial Centre of Vancouver, Governor of The Vancouver Stock Exchange, and Chairman of the Board of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.
Currently, Terry is on the Advisory Committee for the Investment Industry Association of Canada, Chairman of the Vancouver Public Library Foundation, Honorary Chair of the Britannia Development Corporation Fundraising Committee and in February 2008 he was appointed to the Government of Canada's Expert Panel on Securities Regulations.
Terry holds a BA from Chaminade University of Hawaii (1970) and an MBA from the University of Hartford (1973). In June 2009, he was awarded a Doctor of Technology, "honoris causa" from the BC Institute of Technology. Prior to university, he served for four years as a Canadian in the United States Marine Corps, including a year in Vietnam.
